Congratulations to Holbrook Landcare Network and the Slopes to Summit (S2S) partnership of the Great Eastern Ranges Initiative, who have just been awarded $499,875 for on-ground conservation works and community engagement activities over 6 years.

The funding was announced yesterday by the NSW Minister for the Environment, Hon Mark Speakman MP, and is provided by the NSW Government's Environmental Trust as part of its 'Bush Connect in the GER'. The program has committed over $7.5 million to 16 projects, which will commence in January 2016.

Better State Environments is proud to have assisted with Holbrook Landcare Network's funding submission.

This project aims to increase landscape connectivity for endangered box woodland species, such as Squirrel Glider and many woodland birds, in priority landscapes of the Holbrook region. Key activities will include fencing, revegetation, and installation of nest boxes constructed by Thurgoona Men's Shed. The project will also involve, in collaboration with Murray Local Land Services, a pilot program engaging the community in managing isolated Travelling Stock Reserves (TSRs) for positive biodiversity outcomes.
